Welcome Fr. Alex Lancon!

Rev. Alex Lancon

Fr. Lancon was ordained on June 11, 2022, at the age of 28. Similar to an upbringing in Ville Platte, Fr. Lancon grew up in the small-town environment of Franklin, LA, and is one of five children. He attended St. John Elementary and graduated from Hanson Memorial High School in 2012 where he was heavily involved in student life. Fr. Lancon then attended Louisiana State University where he received a bachelor’s in business with a concentration in human resource management.

Responding to a years-long call to discern the priesthood, Fr. Lancon entered St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington, LA immediately after graduation from LSU. There, he studied philosophy and theology for two years.

He has finished his fifth year at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome where he received a licentiate in moral theology with a concentration in bioethics. He is incredibly excited to return to Louisiana and serve the good people of the Diocese of Lafayette and our parishes. We welcome him with open arms!

Parishioners For Life—Motivating Members to Help End Abortion

The Pope on Life

“Every life is sacred! Let us go forward with the culture of life to counter the logic of waste and the declining birth rate; let us be close and together let us pray for the babies who are threatened by the termination of pregnancy, as well as for the people who are at the end of life — every life is sacred! — so that no one may be left alone and that love may defend the meaning of life. Let us recall the words of Mother Teresa: “Life is beautiful, admire it; life is life, defend it!”, be it a baby who is about to be born, or a person who is close to death: every life is sacred!”

– Pope Francis, Message for Day of Life, February 5, 2017
