SEVEN DEADLY SINS/SEVEN LIVELY VIRTUES VIDEO STUDY by Fr. Barron (Facilitated by Fr. Vidrine)

Sin separates us from the love of God, but the cultivation of virtue can restore a right relationship with Him. This Lent, begin the journey from sin to sanctity with Fr. Robert Barron’s Seven Deadly Sins/Seven Lively Virtues. Based on Dante’s writings, the seven deadly sins correspond to the seven stories of Dante’s Mt. Purgatory. Pride, envy, anger, sloth, gluttony, avarice and lust are all presented as patterns of dysfunction within us that lead to unhappiness. Fr. Barron explains the nature of these sins and offers a corresponding virtue for each one, giving practical advice on how to instill this virtue in your own life. Join our study led by Fr. Vidrine on four Wednesdays of Lent:

March 12         6:30pm         Introduction and Pride/Humility

March 26         6:30pm         Envy/Admiration and Anger/Forgiveness

Arpil 2              6:30pm         Sloth/Zeal and Avarice/Generosity

Easter is a Season

Just as Sunday is one day out of seven, so the Easter season, a period of 50 days, is approximately one-seventh of the year. The Easter season, a time of special rejoicing and celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, is the “Great Sunday” of the year. The liturgical prayers and readings focus on the Resurrection and the effects that it has on believers and on the world. The Acts of the Apostles is a book of Scripture that provides the source of most of the readings of the Easter Season, and it shows the vigor with which the apostles proclaimed the Resurrection and brought many to the waters of baptism to share the new life of Christ. This season is a celebration of life, and leads us all to a deeper commitment to proclaim, celebrate, and serve the gift of human life.
