Meet Our New Transitional Deacon…

My name is Casey Rene Dugas and I am the transitional deacon who has been assigned to your parish for a period of pastoral internship. In order to introduce myself here is some information about myself.  I am 25 years of age and am originally from the New Iberia area, specifically growing up between Loureaville and St. Martinville, though I study for Sacred Heart in Baldwin, La. I am a 2013 graduate from Catholic High School. I have one younger brother, named Kelly, and come from a family rooted in providing service work in the oilfield through the family business of natural gas compressor repair. Upon graduating from high school I entered seminary formation and proceeded to graduate from St. Joseph Seminary College in 2017 and am now entering my final year of seminary studies at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Some interesting facts about myself.  I am an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. I was also an amateur forester during my time in college seminary. I possess some proficiency in three languages (English, Spanish, and Latin), unfortunately, French is not one of them though I am very willing to learn. I also really love to cook almost as much as I enjoy eating a good meal. I look forward to getting to know you, the parishioners of Sacred Heart and pray that my time in your parish will be one of many mutual blessings for all. I hope to start in the parish June 1 though you may see me around earlier and I urge all of you not to hesitate to pull me aside to talk or even invite me to your homes. I enjoy a good cup of coffee and conversation and would be delighted to be invited to your homes to enjoy both. I am being sent to your parish to serve you in my role as a deacon and hopefully through the internship round out my final year of formation to make me the best candidate for the priesthood before I am ordained next year. In this way, I see this upcoming time in your parish as one that is exceedingly special and important. This is why I am so excited to be assigned to your parish. I hope to get to know all of you during my time of internship in your parish.

Sincerely,

Dcn. Casey Rene Dugas

Parish Announcements

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Announcements

Due to the recent health concerns:

**Church Office**

Our office will remain open from 8:30am-12:00noon Monday-Friday.

There are some restrictions:  Essential business only please!

If the business can be handled via phone,  we strongly encourage you not  to come to the office in person.

Requests for sacramental records and for Mass intentions may be requested over the phone or by mail/email.

The stipend should be submitted via the mail or placed in the drop-off box located outside the rectory during office hours.

The drop-off box should ONLY be used during our office hours 8:30am-12:00pm (noon)         Please call the office to notify us when using the drop-off box!

Sacred Heart Rectory: (337)363-2989

**Masses**

FINALLY we are able to return to our regular schedule of Masses! Thank you Jesus! The obligation to attend is still not there, but we hope everyone that is healthy does come to worship. You can go any day of the week to sanctify the week. This will help to keep our numbers down on Saturday and Sunday.

We are limited to 25% of our capacity. People in a single household may sit together. The only door for entrance will be the double doors on the cemetery side. Please obey the ushers especially when we have reached the capacity. You will then be asked to go to the next Mass or to watch it on various media. Everyone is strongly encouraged to bring a mask. We also ask that everyone please receive Holy Communion in the hand during this time. We are also asked to limit our time in the building so please stay in your cars until 30 mins before Mass starts. If a line develops at the door, please stand on the taped marks which are 6 feet apart.  Obviously if you are ill, please stay home. If you are vulnerable, please stay home.

All doors will be used for exiting. Please follow the ushers directions for which pews will exit first, namely those closest to the doors so we have as few people as possible passing in front of each other.

Confessions will take place in the cry room so it will no longer be used as a cry room for the time being.

Children’s liturgies are discontinued for the time being.

The Church will be sanitized after all Masses. If you would like to volunteer to help after Mass, please contact the rectory.

The gifts of bread and wine will not be brought up until further notice. The sign of peace is omitted until further notice. For communion, please follow the ushers’ directions as we alternate sides of the pews to come forward for communion. Please stand in the squares that are in the mosaic floor which are already 6 feet apart. A piece of red tape will help to further distinguish them. Please lower your mask before receiving Holy Communion. Please try not to touch the hand of the minister as you receive our Lord in your hand.

**How to submit your weekend collection envelope?**

(1) We will pass the collection baskets as usual on weekend Masses. For those of you who will be going to a weekday Mass in order to sanctify the week, there will be one basket centrally located for you to drop your donation in. It will be picked up after Mass.

(2) You can mail your envelope to 708 E. Main St. Ville Platte, LA 70586

(3) During office hours: there is a drop off box located in front of the rectory. Please call the office to notify us when using the drop off box!

(4) Outside of office hours – You can go inside the Meeting Room and slide the envelope under the door that says “Private.”

(5) You can use bill payment through your bank, which mails us a check. Contact your bank for more information.

(6) The Diocese also provides online giving with your credit card through Parish Give 52 on their website (www.diolaf.org). Please make sure to click on the correct church:
589- Sacred Heart Church
590 – Sacred Heart Belaire Cove Chapel
597 – St. Joseph Church

It is with great joy that we announce that Fr. Blake Dubroc has been appointed by the Bishop as the Vocations Director for the Diocese of Lafayette. This appointment will be effective on Monday, April 27, 2020.

With this appointment, also comes the sad news that Fr. Dubroc will be re-assigned to another parochial position more centrally located in the Diocese. This means he will be leaving Sacred Heart and St. Joseph parishes this summer.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Fr. Dubroc for his wonderful ministry in our parishes of Sacred Heart and St. Joseph and in our school. He has touched many lives with his prayerful spirit, inspired preaching and wise counseling. His many gifts and talents have been shared generously. We will miss him here dearly, but the Diocese will benefit greatly.

Blessings upon you and prayers for you, Fr. Dubroc!
